Hope School and Hope Lutheran Evangelical Church are committed to serving children, youth, and families in the surrounding community of Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Our ministry seeks to meet practical needs while building relationships and creating opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and discover hope for their future.
Through English classes, computer education, soccer and youth activities, and Christian outreach, we seek to serve the whole community with love and compassion.
English Education for the Community
English can open doors to education, employment, communication, and new opportunities.
Hope School provides English learning opportunities for children, teenagers, and young people in the community. Our classes seek to create a welcoming environment where students can improve their English skills, gain confidence, and prepare for future opportunities.
Our English ministry may include:
- English language classes
- Reading and vocabulary development
- Speaking and listening practice
- Phonics and foundational English
- English support for children and youth
- Practical communication skills
- Christian values integrated appropriately into educational activities
Through education, we want to help students develop skills that can benefit them, their families, and their communities.
Computer Education and Digital Skills
Technology is increasingly important in education, employment, business, and everyday life.
Hope School provides opportunities for children and young people to develop basic computer and digital skills.
Students can learn practical skills such as:
- Computer fundamentals
- Keyboard and typing skills
- Microsoft Office and productivity tools
- Internet and digital literacy
- Basic information technology
- Online learning skills
- Responsible use of technology
- Introduction to programming and other digital skills as appropriate
Our goal is to help young people become more confident and prepared to participate in an increasingly digital world.
Soccer and Youth Outreach
Hope Lutheran Evangelical Church is also developing a soccer outreach ministry on the church land recently purchased directly behind the church.
Soccer provides a natural way to connect with children and youth in the community.
Through soccer, young people can experience:
Friendship • Teamwork • Discipline • Leadership • Respect • Service
The church seeks to use sports not simply as recreation but as an opportunity to build relationships, mentor young people, and share Christian hope.
The soccer ministry can also provide opportunities to connect youth with English classes, computer education, youth fellowship, Bible studies, and other community activities.
A Place to Learn, Grow, and Belong
Our vision is to create an environment where children and young people can come not only to study or play, but also to build relationships and discover their potential.
A young person may first come to Hope because of an English class.
Another may come because of a computer class.
Another may come to play soccer.
Through these different points of connection, Hope School and Hope Lutheran Evangelical Church can develop long-term relationships with children, youth, and families.
Education and Christian Service
Hope Lutheran Evangelical Church believes that Christian ministry includes both proclaiming the Gospel and serving people in practical ways.
Jesus taught His disciples to love their neighbors and serve others. Therefore, our community programs seek to demonstrate Christian love through education, mentoring, sports, friendship, and practical service.
Our purpose is not simply to provide programs. We desire to invest in people.
We want children and youth to know that they are valued, that their future matters, and that they have opportunities to grow in knowledge, character, relationships, and faith.
